MISSION FILE: RECON CA-4 – CA2 COMMAND GROUP – WESTERN REGION

LOCATION: California High Desert near Highway 138 / Interstate 5

The team, having been put to Cyro Sleep in 2008, awoke successfully, but found that the reason was not a signal from Prime Base, but from the Bolt power source reaching a critical minimum threshold. The bolthole terminal indicated 153 yrs had passed instead of the expected 20-30 years.

Team leader Vod began organizing the team, with everyone recovering from the apparent extended Cryo Sleep. The Periscope/Bolt radio was unable to successfully extend.

Team Vehicle Gunner Keshawn, Team driver Traveler, and Medic completed the prep and loading of the V150, while Rick exited via a secondary personnel tunnel. He found that the surrounding structures have experience dramatic debilitation which would correlate with the indicated 162 yrs having passed.

The Team successfully exited the Bolt with the vehicle and began observing the surroundings.

Team Commo Specialist Rick was unable to contact anyone from the Morrow Project, although what appeared to be a check in from a NV-2 (Nevada Recon2) was heard.

Rick was unable to establish 2 way communications, but perhaps that can be acquired in the future, atmospheric conditions allowing, or with completion of Relay station objective (see below) Military band radio chatter is present, but the amount is much reduced from what would be expected. Civilian band radio found a station from somewhere in the central Valley, which mentions Marine fighting around Riverside area.

The V150 did not link up with any MP base signal, and thus all clocks were set to the Mark 16, 2170 date(as unbelievable as it sounds)

The adjacent Cement plant has had apparently been worked for many years, as evidenced by expanded diggings, but buildings and structures appear to be collapsed or in disrepair.

With evening approaching, the team then progressed down the “cement plant road” although it could barely be called a road. Vod observed a woman riding a horse galloping up the road directly toward the V150 in obvious flight from something.
That something became obvious as 4 chasing “banditos” on horseback appeared behind her. After warning burst from the commanders MG, which startled the banditos and a shouted command to stop, the banditos opened fire on the woman(missing her). In obvious peril Gunner Keshan utilized a well aimed burst at the firing bandito, converting both him and his horse to so much coyote food.
Rick dived out the V150 and suffered the only wound as a lucky bandito AKM round injured his shoulder.

The woman reined in her horse behind the cover of the stopped V150, and shouted an introduction of her name, with the command to “kill all the raping bastards..”

The AKM toting bandito was not long for this world, as Rick’s fragmentation Grenade resulted in a true “A-Team” body flying stunt.

The last remaining mounted bandito attempted to shoot Vod, but after one round missed, the 2nd blew up the gun, and the hand that was holding it. Another short burst from the coaxial MG perforated a car, behind which a bandito was hiding. The rusting car, didn’t slow down the rounds, and the bandito was the 3rd to go down.

The wounded man turned and began to ride away, but a short burst from Vod ended the escape attempt.

Immediate Mission goals -
Talk to the woman about who she is, why she was being chased, and what information can be obtained from her about local conditions, etc.

Overall Mission objectives and status -

As a recon team we are to check out the surrounding area Status – we have made contact with a locals

Coordinate with any other MP personnel as we can contact.

Recon CA-4 is to support Engineering/Science Team CA-6 located somewhere in the Owens Valley/Owens Lake area approx 100-150 miles N-NW of CA-4 bolthole. Support of this team is to establish reliable supply of Water from Owens lake thru Aqueduct if possible.

In addition to standard MP objectives of helping the people and rebuilding America we are tasked with the specific tasks below.

Check the California Aqueduct system for functionality and viability to restore/establish Agriculture.

Locate and activate the Radio repeater/transmitter on top of Mountain SW of palmdale

Recon the following specific locations -
Lancaster/Palmdale – Agriculture development possibilities

Mojave(airplane graveyard)

Edwards AFB, and adjacent Dryden flight research Center

Boron(borax mine functionality)

Kramer Junction (solar Energy Systems and AF relay station)

Barstow area Railway hub condition

Solar 1, 2, 3 power production facility

Marine Corp Logistics Base Nemo and Yerbo bases
